Group Long Runs

The meeting point for long runs on Wednesday and Saturdays is the Ship Inn at 5.30am.  Both pace and distance vary according to individual training programs and generally the route will be determined by the distance/s to be covered.    At least one of our Saturday runs per month is from either Sandgate or Redcliffe. 

Breakfast is usually at Poppy’s!

Wednesday 5.30am and Saturday 6.am from the Ship Inn . Wednesday morning is a medium long run (12k-18k) @ 4:45 to 5:00min/kmSaturdays pace is slightly slower 5.15-5.30min/km and can involve anywhere from 2-3hrs.

Usually start at the Ship Inn – although we are trying to freshen it up a bit and will alter it around occasionally.

We usually aim to be back to start about 90mins into run so that everybody can select distance. Longest will be 2:30 until after Brisbane Half – then we will go up to 2:40 and 2:50.

Pace average 4:40. Slower at start (5s) and we try and put in a couple of ks at race pace towards the end. We have initiated a short stretching stop 10mins into run.

We select courses with water available or make everybody aware they will need to carry. Some suggestion of stashing water beforehand if we get adventuresome.

Fruit is always available after the run – supplied on a lose roster basis.

Everybody has fun and nobody is dropped if they need to stop – unless they agree.

Average numbers currently 4 – 8 weekly.

Wednesday

Start: 5:30am sharp at the Ship Inn  - we usually run the 18.4k Green Bridge loop anti-clockwise.   
Dates:  Approximately every second  Wednesday
Time/Distance: 90 minutes for 18-19k's
Pace Range: 4:30-4:50  mins/km
Notification: One email only will be sent out on Monday or Tuesday prior to each week's run
