I work as a Radiographer. I live
in Annerley and have lived in Brisbane on and off
since 1972 and joined the Pat Carroll running group in
September 2003
My favourite restaurant is Azafran
in Annerley, fantastic duck risotto.
My earliest childhood memory is when
I was about 3 years old, doing the “runner” from mum at the
shopping centre, being missing all of 10 minutes but having to
wear a harness/leash every time we went shopping after that.
As an adult (and not yet a parent) I believe if your kid wants
to run let them (but maybe put them on a running track first).
My favourite movie is “Shawshank
Redemption”, love a good escape story.
Brisbane City is one of the best
cities in the world to live in because of the great climate,
reasonable living costs and relatively still uncrowded.
My regular holiday destination is
anywhere overseas.
If money was no option I would
travel the world spectating and participating in sporting
events, i.e. be in France to watch the Tour, go windsurfing in
Maui, go skiing in Canada, Germany for the World Cup (soccer),
trekking in Nepal etc, etc.
It frustrates me when people give up
on their goals before giving it their all.
I have been involved in running since
age 11 and my most memorable running experience is
going for a run in Central Park, NYC pre marathon 05 but
injury preventing me from competing.
I enjoy distance running because
it’s a great way to stay healthy, can set individual goals and
only you are accountable to the goals and to be honest nothing
beats the post run endorphin rush.
My favourite run is the river loop.
Motivation is something I have got
plenty of.
Injuries are not uncommon to me.
I’ve had plenty of time ‘recovering’ in the past few years.
Very frustrating but even more motivating to achieve my goals.
The Pat Carroll running group is the
only way to do speedwork. 50 (or so) other runners suffering
like you and familiar faces to keep your performances in check
and keep you honest.
I prefer running in summer because I
love the post run feeling drenched in sweat, weird I know.
Running is difficult, but we
wouldn’t do it if it were easy.
The best advice PC gave me
(and the group) was to ‘never live on your laurels. Today is a
new day, forget about last week, it’s time to put in.’
Lance Armstrong inspires me.
Achieved some amazing goals with plenty of hurdles in the way.
