I needed that
session this morning, after being off crook for a few days it
was a great tonic to get back to the group -
I believe it's impossible to have a bad day after starting with
a PCRG session. Well done!
I enjoyed your
article on motivation last week especially the "visualisation"
techniques which really do work. I used a similar technique when
I had my spinal fusion operation just over 5 years ago by
getting myself extremely fit before the op. (running was out so
I did cycling, walking and swimming) and in a very positive
mindset.
I did this by
reading a lot of positive articles and books (It's Not About the
Bike by Lance Armstrong is brilliant) and mixed with very
positive people. When I went into hospital I took my favourite
photo (my first Gold Coast Marathon in 1986) and changed it with
the painting hanging on the wall at the end of my hospital bed
so that it was the last thing I saw before I went to surgery and
the first thing I woke up to after getting back to the ward. The
surgery was so successful I was walking (assisted) by the second
day and was ready to come home on day 4 - my wife said if I
didn't stay in hospital for another day it was going to be
instant divorce.
Even though
I'd had major surgery the mind was still sharp and I worked out
an extra day in hospital was a lot cheaper option than a
divorce so you can guess the outcome!
Keep up the
great "motivation" work and it's up to each of us to help
encourage and motivate others in the group (the way we do) as we
get nearer to the Gold Coast or whatever goal we have set
ourselves to achieve.
Thanks again
for your encouragement and constant assistance - it's a joy to
be a part of the PCRG.
